Abstract

How many genders and sexes are there in traditional Judaism? The Talmudic sages struggled to fit people into categories of men and women. Who is “ram-like”? What happens when sex cannot be assigned at birth? We will examine the ancient debates and their relevance to modern transgender and intersex issues.
